Living Christmas Tree starts tonight

It's alive and it's back. The 28-foot-tall Living Christmas Tree will be at the First Baptist Church in Maryville starting tonight.

The church invites the public to come celebrate the birth of Christ as the choir presents "His Name is Jesus," sung from an actual Christmas tree.

First Baptist Music Minister, David Robertson, says the idea of having a choir sing from a real Christmas tree came from when he was previously pasturing in California.

"I saw an article in a magazine about a small church that did their Christmas program from a tree.  So I asked one of the men in my church if he thought we could do that, which he said no.  And then he came into my office a few days later and had me clear off my desk.  He had a box in his arms and he pulled out a small model that he had made, complete with a cut-out figures, and said, I think we can do this."

He says they have been doing it for four years in Maryville. The event begins at 7:30 tonight, tomorrow night, and Sunday night.
